FIELD: nuclear engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed container has case with charging space and cover, rigging assemblies, and boxes holding alpha- and beta-ray sources and placed in container. Container case and cover are made in the form of monolithic blocks of fine-grain rock with high silica content of 65 to 80%, such as black dolerite, garnet, or basalt. Case-to-cover mating surfaces are flat. Charging space is made in the form of separate charging pockets for respective alpha- and beta-ray source holding boxes. Each box is installed in charging pocket so that free space is provided between box and wall of charging pocket whose bottom part is filled with loose material and top one, with wax. Case and cover have mating pockets for embedding fastening pins.
EFFECT: enhanced service life and radiation-protective properties of container.
