FIELD: nuclear physics and equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear technology. Container for storage, transportation and burial of solid radioactive wastes contains a case from reactivated silicon carbide, containing free silicon in amount of 3–30 wt. %, on the surface of which a layer of gas-phase silicon carbide is applied. Outer layer of the case is made from foam metal with open porosity of 60–70 % and pore size of 5–6 mm, pores of boron carbide with particle size of 40–50 mcm, which is protection of the environment from radiation emanating from HLW, is poured into the pores. Silicon carbide case contains canisters of stainless steel with thickness of 1-1.5 mm for arrangement of radioactive wastes. Gap between the inner surface of the silicon carbide casing and the stainless steel canister of 5 mm is filled with boron carbide powder, which is protection of the environment from radiation emanating from the high-pressure medium. Silicon carbide casing is sealed with a silicon carbide cover by reaction welding. Foamed metal with open porosity is represented by foam metal selected from a group of metals including titanium, aluminium, copper, and so forth.
EFFECT: invention increases strength of container for solid radioactive wastes.
