FIELD: induction heating; devices for induction heating of flat-edge parts in transverse field.
SUBSTANCE: as distinct from prior-art slit inductor incorporating two identical parallel inducing-wire turns spaced through certain distance apart and electrically interconnected, proposed one has its turns electrically interconnected in parallel. Inductor may be provided in addition with magnetic circuits disposed on external sides of turns. Proposed inductor makes it possible to vary clearance between part and turns. At the same time advantages of transverse-field inductors (power take-off directly on strip edge) and of longitudinal-field slit inductors (heating area depending on inductor width above edge) are retained and variations in temperature field through thickness (cross-sectional area) of part are compensated for.
EFFECT: ability of controlling temperature field distribution through strip thickness.
