FIELD: electrothermics. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in induction heating installations employed in various branches of industry, specifically, in induction crucible melting furnaces of vertical and horizontal type, in submerged-resistor induction furnaces, in heating facilities of surface heating, hardening, through heating of billets for their further processing by plastic metal working ( rolling, forging, stamping, bending, welding ). Inductor of induction heating installation includes hollow wire cooled from inside by cooling agent. Cross-section of wire is compound. At least one part of it is made of material with specific conductance equal to (20-55)•106•1/ohm.m and relative magnetic permeability equal 1-3, for instance, of copper as well as current-carrying buses and shoes. In agreement with invention inducing wire is bimetal over entire length of its active part. Part of wire facing heated surface of heated body is made of copper and the other part of wire is produced from material with relative magnetic permeability equal or over 150, for example, of low-carbon structural steel.
