METHOD OF MANUFACTURE OF THE SHEET GLASS Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC C03B18/02 

FIELD: glass industry; methods of manufacture of the sheet glass.

SUBSTANCE: the invention is pertaining to the field of glass industry, in particular, to the method of manufacture of the sheet glass. The method of manufacture of the sheet glass includes forming of the glass on the melt of stannum by limiting the cross-sectional flowing out of the glass mass or its longitudinal expansion. In the area of the active forming exercise the continuous action on the upper surface of the near-edge sections of the strip of the glass by synchronous pairwise action on the opposite edges sections of the strip of the glass by the alternating longitudinal and-or transversal efforts compressing or stretching the strip of the glass in the transversal direction. The stretching and compression of the strip of the glass up to the given sizes of the glass in width and in depth within the wide range of the depths from 0.5 up to 30 mm is performed by the edge machines with the sliding contact elements. The method allows to decrease considerably the duration of transitions from manufacture of the glass with the depth of less equilibrium to the glass with depth of more equilibrium and vice versa, to make 300 and more transitions a year from one depth of glass to another, to expand the strip of the glass at production of the thin glass and to raise productivity of the float-lines.

EFFECT: the invention allows to decrease considerably the duration of transitions from manufacture of the glass with the depth of low equilibrium to the glass with depth of higher equilibrium and vice versa, to make 300 and more transitions a year from one depth of glass to another, to expand the strip of the glass at production of the thin glass and to raise productivity of the float-lines.
