FIELD: manufacture of float glass having controllable pattern. SUBSTANCE: nature of glass pattern is controlled by amount and speed of thinning machines, rotation speed of each subsequent pair of machines being less than that of preceding pairs thus forming several "pools" of plastic glass band and, hence, rapture of modified layer both longitudinally and across. Pattern is further controlled by location site of thinning machines, by angle of turn thereof and pulsed feeding of modifying reagent.
