FIELD: chemical technology of rare elements.
SUBSTANCE: method involves addition of metallic iron in sulfate solution in the presence of titanium (III) salts and the concentration of titanium in solution is maintained as 0.5-2 g/dm3 at pH > 0.7 and the process temperature 80°C, not above. In particular case, pH value of solution is maintained in the range 1.0-1.7 and the process temperature is 60-70°C. Method provides effective precipitation of selenium in its elemental form from weakly acid solutions with the high content of selenium. Invention can be used for extraction of selenium from sulfate solutions containing selenium in its hexavalent state.
EFFECT: improved method for selenium precipitation.
