FIELD: erecting and servicing chimney stacks of thermal power stations and industrial enterprises.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device designed to protect reinforced-concrete and brick chimney stacks and miscellaneous gas-discharge paths against destruction by lightning-discharge blast waves and to prevent wrapping of chimney shaft with smoke-tail gas medium (hereinafter referred to as gas medium) occurring at heavy wind has chimney with grounded metal electrodes; the latter are made in the form of swirling feathers installed at intervals on chimney head structure with obliquely rising plates disposed in-between to form aerodynamic cascade together with electrodes for mixing up natural air stream and exhaust gases and to convey air-gas mixture to aerodynamic vortex; total area of electrodes protruding above chimney head structure is larger than normal gas-flow sectional area.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability of protecting chimney stacks against destructive impact of lightning discharges.
