FIELD: manufacturing processes in machine engineering, namely measuring with use of photo-tensometer system force and geometry characteristics at investigating laws of transient processes, for example for intermittent cutting processes.

SUBSTANCE: system includes attachment for mounting worked blank at realizing intermittent cutting process; tensometer unit with cutter holder-load cell connected with strain-gage amplifier for measuring force action upon tool at side of worked blank. System also includes data storage unit; position pickup; digital camera with large focus distance; impulse light source for illuminating at making photographs of relative position of tool and blank in zone of their interaction at different time moments of repeating cutting cycles; timing device; personal computer with control program for registering cutting process characteristics. Outlet terminals of strain-gage amplifier are connected with inlet terminals of data storage system. Timing device is designed for irradiating light impulse of light source in predetermined time moment of making photograph and for matching operations of position pickup, data storage unit and personal computer. System allows establish unambiguous correspondence between force and geometry characteristics of transient process of intermittent cutting operation in any time moment; not to use high -cost high-speed filming process.

EFFECT: possibility for receiving data suitable for storing, analysis, transmission and displaying in monitor of personal computer values of acting forces, occurring vibrations and other parameters of pulse forces.
