FIELD: mechanical processing.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the processing of surfaces of ceramic products by grinding. The method includes mounting the workpiece on the machine, measuring the geometrical parameters and base surfaces of the workpiece using the measuring tools of the machine, preparing a control program for the machine on a reference product, and grinding the workpiece according to the control program. The cutting force is controlled by means of an automated system that regulates the feed rate of the machine carriage depending on the readings of at least four strain gauge sensors installed in pairs on the grinding head body in the horizontal and vertical axes of the workpiece processing plane in a section 10 mm long from the place where the grinding head body is attached to the machine carriage in the compression zone.

EFFECT: quality and speed of surface treatment of the workpiece is improved due to the direct measurement and control of the components of the cutting force during the grinding process.
