FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves composing list of words containing sound combinations difficult to pronounce before starting speech training. The list contains approximately equal number of words for each sound combination difficult to pronounce. A control text well-known to patient is given for a stuttering patient to read aloud. Time taken for reading through the control text is checked. Speech training is carried out with the list of sound combinations difficult to pronounce being offered for the stuttering patient to read on trainer command. Each word is read twice from the list, each time on separate trainer command. List reading is repeated many times until speech delay vanishes completely in reading words containing sound combinations difficult to pronounce. The same control text well-known to the stuttering patient is given once more to read through and the time taken for reading the text is checked and compared with the value registered before the beginning of the speech training treatment course and after its being over.
EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness in treating stuttering; improved speech function in neurosis-like stutter cases.
