SEMI-CONTINUOUS EXTRUSION METHOD FOR PRODUCING Al-Mg-Si ALLOY BLANKS Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC B21J5/00 B21C29/04 

Abstract RU 2277451 C1

FIELD: plastic working of metals, namely method for extruding aluminum shapes and tubes as blanks for making fuel ramp of injection type motor.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of extruding metallic blank from container through die unit with splitter; supplying pressurized nitrogen to die and to splitter; then performing heat treatment of blank, namely quenching it and subjecting to artificial aging. Aluminum alloys with content of magnesium and silicon in range 1.5 - 2 % at relation of magnesium to silicon (0.67 - 1) are subjected to extrusion. Then blank is quenched by means of water-air mixture directly in chute of press. Temperature of extruded article before starting quenching process is in range 530 - 560°C. Cooling is performed at rate 45 - 60°C/s.

EFFECT: enhanced quality of articles with stable properties at minimized expenses.
