FIELD: metallurgy, namely apparatuses for producing metallic fibers by quenching discrete structures of liquid metal.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus for producing metallic fibers includes housing having heat resistant shield for arresting flying metallic fibers; control unit and power source of rotation drive units. Devices for surface dispersing of melt metal and for surface crystallization of metallic fibers are mounted in housing on the same axis with possibility of mutual rotation and they are in the form of profiled discs with unit for controlling temperature of their working surfaces. Unit for creating excess pressure of inert and(or) reducing gas provides excess pressure zone over end surfaces of said discs. Device for melt metal surface dispersing has built-up body, its inner part is made of refractory material and it has cooling duct in its outer part. Apparatus includes electric arc dispersing unit at least with two electrodes (one of said electrodes is dispersed electrode) and system for continuous feed of dispersed electrode to electric arc zone.

EFFECT: elimination of lining slag continuity, automatic calibration of liquid metallic structures up to their mono-drop condition.
