FIELD: metallurgy, namely production of metallic fibers from melts.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of extracting melt metal by means of crystallizing disc from mixer being moved upwards as melt is consumed. In order to prevent cooling down of metal, short-period contact disconnection of crystallizing disc and melt metal is realized due to lowering height of meniscus. Height of meniscus is regulated by changing frequency of power source voltage fed to inductor and electric drive unit of lifting mechanism of mixer. Apparatus for drawing metallic fibers from melt includes mixer for extraction of melt metal; rotating crystallizing disc; temperature pickup; comparing unit; temperature setter, frequency regulator; thyristorized frequency converter; inductor; electric drive unit of lifting mechanism of mixer.
EFFECT: improved quality of fibers due to stable temperature of melt.
