FIELD: electrical engineering; post-formation dry-out of active-material covered plates for lead-acid batteries.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device for drying active-material covered negative plates has heat-insulating casing accommodating chain conveyer with satellites disposed on its straps and used to carry vertically suspended plates being treated, as well as heating and air supply means; secured at casing center is longitudinal guide for conveyer satellite cars with facilities for suspending plated fixed on their both ends, each of these plates being disposed axisymmetrically to rows of infrared emitters abutting against reflectors; mounted on chain-conveyer satellite cars is spring-loaded wedge stop made in the form of flat spring overhanging from car and projecting from its window; loose end of spring has stop on projection end. High-quality negative plates treated by this device are characterized in oxidation of active material reduced to 3.5 - 4.5% whose stability is maintained within long time when brought in contact with atmospheric air.
EFFECT: reduced length of double-channel drier, reduced power requirement for plate manufacture, enhanced quality of plates.
