FIELD: veterinary science.
SUBSTANCE: the present innovation deals with detecting the percentage content of fat and protein in milk of lactating cows in puerperal period and according to their difference it is possible to calculate ketosis-resistance index by the formula: I = (fat-protein)x100, the value of which is referred to three types of animal resistance to ketosis. Animals should be referred to resistant type at index value being 130 and below, to average-resistant - 131-140 index and to nonresistant - 141 and more, moreover, the level of fat, protein in milk and ketosis-resistance index should be detected on the 3d - 4th d after calving. The innovation provides decreased labor intensity at evaluating the resistance to ketosis in lactating cows.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of evaluation.
