FIELD: powder metallurgy, namely production of composition materials.
SUBSTANCE: method is used for producing powdered materials coated by tungsten mono-carbide. Such materials may be used for making abrasive cutting tools, namely for producing composition diamond-tungsten carbide enlarging using range of diamond tools. Coating according to invention is applied by two stages. At first stage coating is applied of cubic-crystal tungsten carbide with minimum carbon content and at second stage coating is saturated with carbon from gaseous medium till formation of mono-carbide layer. In order to reduce carbon content in coating of tungsten carbide, intermediate heat treatment in air is realized before carbide formation.
EFFECT: enlarged range of composition materials due to lowered temperature of carbide formation process.
