FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to superhard diamond coated materials and can be used in hard wearing hard wearing articles containing abrasive tools. Coating on a diamond containing material selected from the group consisting of diamond, monocrystalline diamond, polycrystalline diamond, diamond carborundum composites and diamond containing material, preferably containing no catalyzing metals, which is heat-resistant at temperatures up to at least 800 °C, contains first adhesive layer formed directly on the diamond containing material and containing a mixture of tungsten and tungsten carbide fused with fluorine in an amount of 0.001 to 0.12 % of the total weight of the first layer, and a second protective layer formed on the first layer and comprising at least tungsten fused with fluorine in an amount of 0.001 to 0.12 % of the total weight of the second layer. Method of applying said coating, a superabrasive element with said coating, cutting and drilling tools with at least one said superabrasive element are also provided. Methods for making a cutting or drilling tool include fastening the superabrasive element to the substrate of the cutting or drilling tool by wetting the second protective coating layer with the molten metal.

EFFECT: protection of diamonds from oxidation and aggressive metals is provided, along with coating improvement of tool diamond holding.
