FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely to chemical deposition of coating by deposition of compound using electric discharges and plasma jets, and can be used in engine building, aircraft building and machine building. Method of forming coating from cubic tungsten carbide on metal substrate includes evacuation of chamber, its filling with gaseous argon, generation of tungsten- and carbon-containing plasma and deposition of cubic tungsten carbide on metal substrate. Tungsten and carbon-containing plasma is generated using a coaxial magnetoplasma accelerator comprising a capacitor bank, between electrodes of which electrically fusible link is made of compacted mixture of powders of tungsten and soot at atomic ratio C:W from 0.30:0.70 to 0.65:0.35. Said coating is deposited at room temperature, argon pressure in chamber 105 Pa and charging voltage 3 kV of capacitor bank with capacity of 6 mF.
EFFECT: obtaining coatings from cubic tungsten carbide of different thickness with characteristics considerably exceeding characteristics of substrate by strength properties.
