CATHODE PROTECTION APPARATUS FOR PROTECTING AGAINST CORROSION RESERVOIR INNER SURFACES Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC C23F13/06

Abstract RU 2280711 C1

FIELD: cathode protection against corrosion of metallic structures in chemical and oil-gas industry branches.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes protection electric current source whose negative pole is connected with reservoir and positive pole is connected with anode. Said source is in the form of single electric current conductor having uniformly arranged in it contact connections, each connection is coupled with protection current source. Said electric current conductor is arranged in cylindrical dielectric screen having holes along its upper generatrix. Both ends of dielectric screen are arranged in cavities of mutually opposite hatches of reservoir. Protective screen is placed over said holes of dielectric screen and it is inclined by acute angle to horizon; cavity of protective screen is communicated with exhaust pipe. Apparatus also includes controlled hollow float valves placed in guide portions of holes of dielectric screen. Cavities of hollow float valves are mutually communicated through flexible main pipeline having shut-off valves at both ends outside walls of reservoir. Dielectric screen is arranged in parallel to protective screen whose inclination angle to horizon is no less than 3°. Dielectric screen defines closed fluid-tight cavity together with hatches due to sealed joints between them. Inner surfaces of hatches and of their lids are covered with dielectric insulation. Branch pipes with shut-off valves are arranged in lids of hatches for communicating the whole fluid-tight cavity with environment in such a way that its upper part is communicated with environment through branch pipe of lid of hatch arranged higher than dielectric screen and its lower part is communicated with environment through branch pipe of lid of opposite hatch. Transporting flexible main pipeline is communicated with cavities of float valves in their upper portions at side turned upwards along slope of dielectric screen and in their lower portion - at opposite side.

EFFECT: lowered labor consumption of process for mounting and changing anode, enhanced operational reliability and efficiency of cathode protection system.
