FIELD: mechanical engineering; welding.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for connecting parts of large cross section. Method includes flashing with simultaneous checking change of physical condition of fused parts at possible deviations in process and subsequent upsetting. Prior to starting fusion process, standard values of definite time integral of product of current values of welding current by welding voltage which are wound beforehand experimentally. Standard values of shortening of parts under welding for each value of definite time integral are set. In process of fusion, current values of welding current and welding voltage are measured, products of said current values and definite time integral said product are calculated. When definite time integral reaches standard value, shortening of parts under welding corresponding to said value is measured. Measured value of shortening is compared with standard value by subtracting standard value from measured value. At positive result of subtraction, welding voltage is reduced and at negative, increased.
EFFECT: improved quality of weld joint owing to stabilization of heating.
