FIELD: measurement engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method can be used for measurement of water discharge in large diameter hidden pipelines with low speed of flow. Speed V3p of propagation of acoustic signal in material of pipeline is preliminary measured in available part of pipeline being conjugated with inspected pipeline. Then acoustic signal within 30-100 kHz frequency range is excited in created acoustic base between two available opposite parts of inspected pipeline. Time of signal's travel in acoustic base along material Tp of pipeline is measured in water and against flow - T1 and T2 correspondingly. Speed of flow Vf =V3pTp/2(1/T1-1/T2) is measured as well as water discharge during specified period of time. Water discharge can be measured without transposing shore part of water conduit.
EFFECT: improved efficiency.
