FIELD: metallurgy; production of steel and its alloys.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes melting metal and alloying it by delivery of oxidized tungsten-containing raw material, fluxing material and reductant to molten metal surface cleaned beforehand from slag; tool sharpening waste may be used as oxidized tungsten-containing raw material; tool sharpening waste is briquetted together with fluxing material and 15-% calcium-silicon selected as reductant; tool sharpening waste, fluxing material and 15-% calcium-silicon are taken at ratio of (3.9-4.1): (1.9-2.1): (1.0-1.2), respectively. It is good practice to use tool sharpening waste of the following chemical composition, mass-%: iron, 16.0-19.0; tungsten-containing oxide, 6.5-8.5; silicon, 16.0-18.0; magnesium oxide, 1.0-2.5; cobalt, 0.15-0.25; carbon, 14.0-16.0; sulfur, 0.007-0.015; phosphorus, 0.015-0.020; the remainder being alumina.
EFFECT: reduction of power requirements due to increased rate of melting material and smooth distribution of reduced tungsten in molten metal volume.
