FIELD: inorganic compounds technologies.
SUBSTANCE: sodium silicates in above-indicated form contain less than 15 wt % water and have silicate ratio 1.3 to 4.0. Aqueous sodium silicate compound is first heated to 35-90°C and then activated by passing it through magnetic field, which assure intensity 250-750 kA/m for a few seconds in any point of the portion of sodium silicate compound stream, affected by magnetic field. Action time of magnetic field on aqueous sodium silicate compound stream is at least 10-12 sec. Dried sodium silicate is finally subjected to firing accomplished with the aid of hot gas at temperature not below 200°C. Time required to dissolve thus obtained silicates is by at least 20% less than time required to dissolve known sodium silicates under the same conditions.
EFFECT: increased dissolution rate of product in water.
