FIELD: nuclear engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed packing device for conveying uranium-containing nuclear fuel in bulk has chamber suited to hold nuclear fuel and container whose space is suited to receive this chamber introduced therein through container opening closed with cover in transit. Chamber has port which should be tightly closed in transit with aid of locking device so that holding shell is formed for nuclear fuel upon its locking. Container has external shell, internal cavity which is essentially mentioned space, and porous material affording thermal and mechanical protection which is disposed in space separating external shell from internal cavity. Porous material is phenolic foam plastic.
EFFECT: enhanced strength and tightness of device.
