FIELD: nuclear power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed liquid-metal coolant transfer pump handling, for instance, lead or its alloys, contains housing, impeller secured on shaft connected with drive and installed with slot clearance with nonrotating units. Pump is provided coolant overflow hole. Electromagnet is installed outside slot clearance along housing wall higher than level of liquid metal. Magnetic field of electromagnetic precludes getting of liquid metal into slot clearance. Electromagnet is connected to supply source through insulated electric contact between coil of electromagnet and liquid metal if its level rises to area of slot clearance, or through remote control system.
EFFECT: improved reliability of pump in operation owing to quality balancing of pump shaft and absence of additional dynamic forces and rotating masses.
