FIELD: distant protection of power transmission lines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method that can be found most useful to protect power transmission lines against short circuit with high contact resistance at shorted point and mutual induction with other power transmission line includes simultaneous measurement of active resistance and reactance by means of two distant elements having different operate settings responding to stepwise variations in emergency parameters at moment of damage. In case of operation of only one distant element or in case of smooth variation of parameters in asynchronous mode of operation and load self-start protective gear operation is disabled.
EFFECT: enhanced operating reliability of distant protective gear.
