FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering, specifically to relay protection and automation of power transmission lines, and can be used in designing protection and automation devices that require high degree of adaptation of characteristics of operation modes of protected object. Method includes preliminary imitating damages in different points of power transmission line determined currents and voltages at least on one end of power transmission line. Method includes performing a procedure of determining point of damage from currents and voltages, obtained by simulation of damage. Difference of distances between imitated point of damage and certain values of currents and voltages at model. Method includes implementing adaptation of remote protection and determining point of damage by adjusting distances defined in remote protection and key to point of damage on difference of distances, formed as a result of simulation technique.
EFFECT: technical result is simplified method.
