FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: active resistance and reactive impedance are measure before fault location by emergency values of current, voltage and shear angle between them at the moment of occurrence. Distance between site of protection installation and fault location is determined on the basis of weighted average of distance evaluations calculated from measurements of active resistance and reactive impedance. Findings are compared with settings considering factors which distort measurements. Measurement of line mode parameters is fixed by changes in measurement value and sign of distance between site of protection installation and fault location.

EFFECT: stability improvement for distance protection functioning.
