FIELD: electrical and radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed vacuum switch designed for no-load switching of high-power and high-frequency circuits as well as for radio equipment to change over loads, high-voltage circuit coil taps, antenna circuits, resonance-tuned circuits, high-voltage circuit capacitors in antenna-matching devices, harmonic suppression filters, and the like has inner surface of its insulating sheath and outer surface of movable-contact insulator covered with coating whose conductivity is higher by two-four orders of magnitude than that of sheath and insulator; coating material is metal oxides, nitrides, or carbides whose coefficient of secondary electron emission is not over 1.5; coating thickness is chosen to be higher by 1.5 or 2 times than penetration depth of electrons accelerated by high-voltage and high-frequency field between high-potential electrodes into coating.
EFFECT: enhanced operating reliability with open contacts in high-voltage circuits without increasing mass, size, and electrode-to-electrode capacitances.
