FIELD: organometallic chemistry, lubricant materials.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing organomolybdenum compounds and their using as multifunctional addition agents in lubricants. Invention discloses a lubricant composition comprising (A) lubricant and (B) at least one molybdenum-containing compound in form of surface-blocked nanosize particles of the general formula: (Z)n(X-R)m wherein Z is chosen from the group consisting of MoS3, MoS2O, Na2MoS4, Na2MoS3O, (NH4)2MoS4, (NH4)2MoSO and their hydrates in forms of sizes having sizes in limits from about 1 to about 100 nm; (X-R) means surface-blocking reagent chosen from the group consisting of alkylamines, dialkylamines, trialkylamines, carboxylic acids, dicarboxylic acids, carboxylic acid amides, dicarboxylic acid diamides, alicyclic imides, ammonium of alkaline metals dialkyldithiocarbamates, bivalent metals bis-dialkyldithiocarbamates, trivalent metals tris-dialkyldithiocarbamates, tetraalkylthiuram disulfides and their derivatives; n means a number of Z molecules in particles; m means a whole number representing amount of surface-blocking reagents with respect to a single particle, and the ratio m to n is in the limits from about 1:1 to about 10:1. Also, invention describes a method for preparing molybdenum-containing compounds in form of surface-blocked nanosize particles. Invention provides prevention of coagulation of nanosizes, their solubility and stability in hydrocarbons and enhancing anti-wearing properties and improving friction conditions at extreme pressure values.
