FIELD: polishing surfaces of metallic articles for decorating and (or) for mechanical functioning.

SUBSTANCE: metallic article is placed into vibration apparatus for finishing it in combination with use of chemical solution reacting with surface of metallic article for browning said surface and in combination with non-abrasive polymeric medium or non-abrasive metallic medium non-reacting with chemical solution and used for super-finishing metallic article. Metallic article, non-abrasive polymeric medium and chemical solution are subjected to shaking in vibration apparatus for finishing in such a way that browned layer may be removed from surface of metallic article by means of non-abrasive polymeric medium for polishing surface of metallic article. Just after such procedure interaction between metallic article and chemical solution is repeated for browning surface of article again in order to polish it by means of non-abrasive polymeric medium.

EFFECT: possibility for super-finishing metallic surfaces till mirror gloss at isotropic fineness of surface.
