FIELD: methods for testing materials, in particular, methods for determining hardness thereof.
SUBSTANCE: in accordance to method, a strike by spherical indenter is applied to material being tested, normal resilience module and Poisson coefficient of indenter material and material being tested are determined coarsely, depth of remaining imprint on the surface of material being tested and speed of shock loading are measured. Level of resilient-plastic deformation is determined in contact of spherical indenter with material being tested, curvature radius of surface of remaining imprint is measured and on basis of aforementioned data, with consideration of depth of remaining imprint on the surface of material being tested, restoration coefficient is determined during collision of indenter with the surface of material being tested in the moment of beginning of rapid return motion of indenter. Dynamic hardness is determined on basis of values of restoration coefficient, coefficients, characterizing resilience properties of materials of spherical indenter and material being tested, Poisson coefficients of spherical indenter material and material being tested, normal resilience modules of material of spherical indenter and material being tested, density of spherical indenter material modified to volume of its sphere, and shock loading speed by spherical indenter of material being tested.
EFFECT: simplification of method for measuring dynamic hardness, expanded functional capabilities.
