METHOD FOR SURGICAL CORRECTION OF G-SHAPED CARTILAGINOUS CURVATURES OF NASAL SEPTUM IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC A61B17/24

FIELD: medicine, otorhinolaryngology.

SUBSTANCE: one should fulfill an incision, mobilization of nasal septum, resections of cartilaginous and bony septal structures followed by reposition and fixation. Moreover, it is necessary to carry out a unilateral exfoliation of mucoperichondrium at concave septal surface. At concave cartilaginous surface one should make two parallel incisions that connect its anterior-superior and posterior-inferior edges and curved cartilaginous strip between incisions should be removed followed by mobilizing a cartilaginous part of nasal septum of its inferior and posterior edges due to separating against a vomer and perpendicular plate of ethmoid bone. One should resect bony and cartilaginous crests and thickenings, mobilize anterior-superior cartilaginous edge, fulfill cartilaginous reposition to place the cartilage and bones of nasal septum along the middle line and apply mucoperichondrial fragments onto their surface. Then the edges of mucosal and perichondrial incision should be brought together to suture incision edges and tamponade. The innovation enables to reconstruct nasal aerodynamics, prevents negative impact of surgical interference upon the development of nasal septum in children.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of surgical correction.
