METHOD OF TREATING NASAL SEPTUM DEVIATION Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC A61B17/24

Abstract RU 2392884 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to otorhinolaryngology, and can find application in treating nasal septum deviation. The method involves a left-side semi-penetrating incision between a caudal edge of the cartilage of nasal septum and a cranial edge of the medial crus of the alar cartilage with uncovering the cartilage edge, one-side separation of a mucoperichondral flap to the level of a chondral deformation edge, separation of the periosteum along a bone base of the nasal septum with creating a mucoperiosteal flap, one-side joining-up of upper and lower canals, horizontal dissection of the cartilage of the nasal septum over the bone base before a starting point of the bone structure of the deep septum, downright excision of the cartilage of the septum from a perpendicular plate of the ethmoid bone, uncovering of the perpendicular plate of the ethmoid bone, vomer by backward and downward two-side detachment of the mucoperiosteum, removal of the deformed bone structures and a deviated cartilage. The excess tissue of the mucoperichondral and mucoperiosteal flaps is middled with providing a distance 0.5 cm from the middle of the bend. Then two transseptal knotless sutures are applied, the excess tissue is dissected along the full length of the bend. The created parts are overlapped to form a plane surface. Then the interrupted sutures are fastened on the opposite side of the nasal septum.

EFFECT: use of the presented invention allows for complete respiratory recovery and reconstruction of a straight nasal septum due to correction of the excess tissue of the mucoperichondral and mucoperiosteal flaps.
