FIELD: rolled stock production, possibly manufacture of coiled reinforcing steel and rods in bar rolling mills.
SUBSTANCE: in order to improve mechanical properties of round bars, billets are subjected to multiple reduction till final-diameter bar at normalized temperature of finishing rolling process. Mean portion of bar is cooled by water; bar is coiled to helical turns that are transported in conveyer. Temperature of finishing rolling process is kept in range 990 - 1100°C. Mean portion of bar is cooled by water at rate 10 - 20°C/s till temperature 740 - 800°C. End portions of bar that were not subjected to water cooling are additionally cooled in conveyer from temperature of rolling process final stage till temperature 400 - 580°C at mean rate 4 - 8°C/s.
EFFECT: less loss of yield, improved mechanical properties of round bars.
