FIELD: measuring technique.

SUBSTANCE: device comprises inductor (32) that generates alternative current in the material, tank (24) filled with the material, and at least one pickup of magnetic field (52), (54) mounted in the zone housed by the inductor. The pickup has pair of magnetic amplifiers and modules (68) and (70) for demodulation of signals received from the pickup. The phase shift of the demodulation is π/2 with respect to the inductor current. Modules (72), (74), and (76) are used for processing the signals received from the demodulator and generating signal when the material reaches the level of the pickup.
