HOLE WORKING METHOD BY STATIC-IMPULSE MILLING WITH USE OF NEEDLE MILLING CUTTER Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC B23C3/00 

Abstract RU 2290279 C1

FIELD: manufacturing processes in machine engineering, namely working materials by cutting, milling openings of metallic blanks with use of needle milling cutters at strengthening surface layer.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of inserting needle milling cutter having body with seats (in each seat bushing with pile bundle is arranged) into worked opening; imparting to milling cutter lengthwise feed and imparting to blank rotation. Body of milling cutter is in the form of mandrel with seats arranged along radiuses and having cross section in the form of rectangle with rounded angles. Each seat has turning on inner surface. On outer surface of bushing whose configuration is reciprocal to that of seat shoulder is formed. In turning of seat compression spring that rests upon shoulder of bushing is placed. Bottom of bushing is inclined by acute angle relative to plane normal to lengthwise axis of bushing and it may engage with cone surface of wave-guide arranged in central longitudinal opening of mandrel. Striker mounted in central longitudinal opening of mandrel along the same axis acts upon end of wave-guide. Helical cylindrical compression spring acts upon other end of wave-guide. Ring with holes for pile bundles is mounted on mandrel.

EFFECT: enlarged manufacturing possibilities due to controlling depth of cut layer and micro-relief of inner surface, intensification of process due to applying constant static load and variable impulse load, enhanced efficiency of process, improved quality of products.
