METHOD FOR PREPARING 1-[3-HYDROXY-4-(FUR-2-YL)PROP-1-YL]-1,2-DIHYDRO[60]FULLERENES Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC C07D307/42 

FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for synthesis of 1-[3-hydroxy-(3-fur-2-yl)prop-1-yl]-1,2-dihydro[60]fullerenes of the formula (1): wherein n = 1, 2. Method involves interaction of fullerene-C₆₀ with triethylaluminum (AlEt₃) in the mole ratio C₆₀ : AlEt₃ = 1:(25-35) in the presence of zircocene dichloride (Cp₂ZrCl₂) as a catalyst taken in the amount 15-25 mole% with respect to C₆₀ in argon atmosphere, at room temperature (20-21°C) and under atmosphere pressure in toluene medium for 8 h. Then method involves addition to the reaction mass of two-component catalyst Ni(acac)₂ + 2 Ph₃P in tetrahydrofuran medium (TGF) at temperature -15°C in the amount 15-25 mole% with respect to C₆₀ and furancarbaldehyde in the equimole amount with respect to AlEt₃, stirring of the reaction mass at room temperature for 6-10 h and the following hydrolysis. The total yield of the end compounds after hydrolysis of the reaction mass is 52-71%.
