FIELD: engineering of devices for registration of ionizing radiations, in particular, activation detectors of neutrons.
SUBSTANCE: activation detector of neutrons contains beryllium transformer of neutrons, organic scintillator, photo-electronic multiplexer and light-protective body, light guides, circular scintillator units, and absorbing screen made of bismuth. Beryllium neutron transformer is made of disk with thickness of walls equal to no more than run length of beta-radiation in beryllium, and similar thickness of hollow cylinders, organic scintillator is made in form of a set of hollow cylinders with thickness of walls not less than 1/4 run length of beta-particles in scintillator and height, equal to height of hollow cylinders of beryllium neutron transformer, absorbing screen made of bismuth being in form of hollow cylinder, disk of same thickness as hollow cylinder, and a set of rings, circular scintillator units being made with thickness equal to thickness of hollow cylinders of organic scintillator. Construction of sensitive area of detector is selected in form of coaxial cylinders made of alternating layers of beryllium, organic scintillator, light guide.
EFFECT: increased sensitivity of detector to fast neutrons.
