FIELD: production of gas-discharge tubes and in particular neon tubes.
SUBSTANCE: at least one of glass capsules is placed on stem close to open electrode prior to vacuum treatment of tube interior so that hole in metal container faces working region of tube. Upon vacuum treatment and filling interior with inert gas stem section accommodating capsule disposed in metal container is separated from evacuation device and this section is locally exposed to high-power electromagnetic radiation causing immediate heating of metal container resulting in destruction of glass capsule and augmented evaporation of liquid mercury thereby forming directed stream of pure mercury vapor which rapidly fills up tube inner space through hole in metal container.
EFFECT: enhanced precision of dosing minimal rated amount of mercury being introduced.
