METHOD FOR EVALUATING THERAPEUTIC EFFICIENCY IN PATIENTS AT SYRINGOMYELIA Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A61B5/16

Abstract RU 2290866 C2

FIELD: medicine, neurology.

SUBSTANCE: before and after therapy course a patient should mark the degree of pain syndrome by a visual-analog scale ranged 1-10 cm (X) and evaluate in 1-4 points the degree of affected vital activity (Y) in household, industrial spheres and in self-help sphere. The degree of patient's state severity (SS) should be calculated by the following formula: SS=0.3419Y2+0.0077X2+0.1026HX-0.3419. The obtained SS value should be compared with that obtained during the first consultation of the patients and inefficient therapy should be determined at increased SS values by more than 0.5 points annually. Evaluation of the degree of affected vital activity should be fulfilled according to the form consisted of the following questions: if the disease deteriorates the ability for patient's self-help, if the ability to fulfill household duties is restricted, if the disease deteriorates the ability for independent moving, if the ability to use transport is restricted, if the disease deteriorates the chance to run professional activities, if the disease has changed the habitual contact circles and if the disease restricts patient's sexual life. Moreover, maximally manifested disorders should be evaluated as 4 points, the points obtained should be summarized and divided into the number of questions. The innovation enables to increase significance of evaluation due to applying quantitative criterion of comparison during analysis.

EFFECT: higher accuracy and efficiency of evaluation.
