METHOD OF MANUFACTURE OF ARTICLE BY SUPERPLASTIC MOULDING AND DIFFUSION WELDING Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC B21D53/78 B21D26/02 

FIELD: plastic metal working.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of manufacture of articles from titanium alloys by superplastic molding and diffusion welding. For this purpose at least two blanks of titanium alloy are used. Sections are marked on surface of at least one of blanks to be subjected and not to be subjected to joining, blanks are assembled into pack, heated to preset temperature and force of preset value is applied by press to connect blanks by diffusion welding to get semifinished article, working medium is heated and delivered under pressure into inner space of semifinished article for superplastic molding of at least one of blanks to get article of required form. Diffusion welding is carried out through gaskets made of titanium alloy with flow stress less than that in blanks provided owing to smaller size of grains in gasket as compared with grains in blanks. When article is made of three and more blanks, material preventing connection of sections not to be connected is applied to part of surfaces of one of blanks.

EFFECT: improved quality, reduced labor input.
