FIELD: metallurgy; methods of making rail steel.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes melting of steel by series at delivery of metal burden into electric arc steel melting furnace; metal burden contains scrap and molten cast iron; then melting and deoxidation are performed; deoxidation is performed in furnace by aluminum at all heats of series; deoxidation of slag is carried out at last heat of series by means of coke powder, crushed ferro-silicon and granulated aluminum; m tapping of steel into ladle without slag, addition of slag-forming mixture and required deoxidizing and alloying agents. Added to ladle as slag-forming mixture are lime and vanadium-containing converter slag at ratio of (1.5-2.5) : (0.3-0.8), respectively in the amount of 1.8-3.3% of mass of molten steel, as well as silicon- and manganese-containing ferro-alloys.
EFFECT: increase of through extraction of vanadium to 80-90%.
