FIELD: industrial inorganic synthesis.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of chlorine dioxide, in particular for bleaching pulp, and, more specifically, to controlling this process. In a continuous chlorine dioxide production process with specified productivity, computer-mediated control is provided based on specified productivity regarding chlorine dioxide as a single parameter entered by operator into process-governing computer program. Computer control comprises: (i) continuously following up variations in specified productivity regarding chlorine dioxide aqueous solution, continuously monitoring process streams of sodium chlorate, reducing agent, sulfuric acid, steam flowing into boiler, cooled water, and modifying starting control points of all indicated streams in accordance with varied specified productivity; (ii) continuously monitoring productivity regarding chlorine dioxide aqueous solution to find out deviations from specified value thereof and modifying reducing agent stream velocity to maintain specified productivity value; (iii) continuously monitoring technical conditions for material streams and modifying corresponding control points of stream velocities for streams of raw materials supplied to reaction zone using specified productivity and responding to variations in technical conditions of materials; (iv) continuously monitoring physical properties of sodium chlorate solution, i.e., temperature and density, and, basing thereon, creating virtual continuous sodium chlorate analyzer, which would determine volume concentration of sodium chlorate solution. As a result, proposed control means ensure achievement and maintenance of high productivity concerning target chlorine dioxide, stable operation conditions under optimum conditions, computerized monitoring and operation control, diminished need to use manual laboratory analyses involving participation of operator, and realizing optimum operation conditions and saving of reagents.
