FIELD: production of alkaline metal chlorate in electrolyzer, plant with such electrolyzer and method of using them for producing alkaline metal chlorate and(or) chlorine dioxide.

SUBSTANCE: electrolyzer is divided by means of cation selective separator by anode compartment where anode is placed and cathode compartment where gas-diffusion electrode is placed. In anode compartment there are inlet for electrolyte solution and outlet for solution subjected to electrolysis. In gas chamber there is inlet for introducing oxygen-containing gas. Process comprises steps of supplying electrolyte solution containing alkaline metal chloride to anode compartment and oxygen-containing gas to cathode compartment; transporting solution after its electrolysis from anode compartment to chlorate reactor for further reaction in order to produce concentrated electrolyte with alkaline metal chlorate.

EFFECT: highly effective electrolytic process for producing alkaline metal chlorate without adding chemical reagents for correlating pH.
