FIELD: radioactive compounds technology.
SUBSTANCE: objective of invention is preparation of nuclear fuel and, in particular, is effected in plasma-chemical reactor, wherein uranium hexafluoride or uranium hexafluoride/plutonium mixture is introduced into nitrogen-hydrogen plasma while maintaining at least 50-fold volumetric or molar excess of nitrogen and 15-fold volumetric or molar excess of hydrogen based on hexafluoride content in plasma. Gas stream leaving plasma-chemical reactor is cooled in nitrogen-hydrogen flow or ammonia flow, and/or through heat dissipation, after which mononitrides are separated from gas stream. The latter is then freed of hydrogen fluoride and completed with nitrogen and hydrogen or ammonia, whereupon returned to plasma-chemical reactor.
EFFECT: simplified process and increased productivity thereof at lower expenses.
