FIELD: microwave engineering; microwave pulse generation; power supplies for electrophysical equipment such as charged particle accelerators.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device has rectangular prismatic accumulating cavity, coupling center with generator, and high-frequency switching unit. Accumulating cavity is divided by means of metal septum into two parts, each being essentially rectangular waveguide of odd number of quarter-wavelengths λw; waveguides are shorted out on one end and cross-sectional areas of cavity on other waveguide end at point of load connection coincide with load waveguide dimensions. Thickness d of metal septum at point of connection is much smaller than λw. Coupling center with generator is made in the form of half-wave prismatic rectangular cavity connected through its wide wall to narrow walls of both waveguides and has two coupling openings on its opposite ends spaced from shorted-out ends of waveguides through distance l1 found from equation , where k is integer number. High-voltage switching unit is installed inside one of waveguides at distance l2 = λw/4 from shorted-out end.
EFFECT: enhanced output power level of equipment.
