FIELD: medicine, oncology.
SUBSTANCE: one should sample the material of thyroid tumor due to aspiration thin-needle puncture and/or abrasion from the incision of tumoral tissue removed during operation; preparing tumoral smears, their dyeing for cytological assay; investigating 120 cells, not less in three and more patient's smears due to the system of image analysis consisting of a microscope of transmitted light, colored video camera, a computer and software of caryocytometry, evaluation of qualitative cytological signs - the availability of atypical follicles, stratification of cell nuclei, the presence of uneven structure of chromatin; detection of total frequency of availability rate of every qualitative cytological sign in patient's smears and at excessive threshold value established due to expert evaluations it is necessary to give it a final value 1 - the availability of a sign, in other cases 0 - the absence of the sign; analysis of the values of qualitative cytological signs due to the software of "neuronal nets" type, pre-determined to differentiate follicular cancer and follicular thyroid adenoma according to the mentioned qualitative cytological signs of patient's smears against histologically established diagnosis; software's conclusion on the availability of follicular adenoma or follicular thyroid cancer being different by the fact that, additionally, one should evaluate quantitative cytological signs - the area of cell nucleus, optical density of cell nucleus by "grey" gradation scale; detect the portion of cells the value of nucleus area of which ranges between the mean value plus 2 average quadratic deviations and maximal value, the portion of cells in which the value of optic nucleus density by "grey" gradation scale ranges between the mean value plus 2 average quadratic deviations and maximal value; while studying the software of "neuronal nets" type one should additionally apply the declared quantitative signs.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of differential diagnostics.
