FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, namely supporting apparatuses used at slab continuous casting.
SUBSTANCE: roller includes barrel having on its surface helical beads with normalized lead angle of helical line relative to vertical line. On outer surface along length of each turn of helical bead there are 1 - 3 flats having depth consisting of 0.3 - 0.4 of bead height. Flats are uniformly distributed along circle of each turn of helical bead. Flats of adjacent beads are shifted one relative to other. Inclination angle of helical line of beads relative to vertical line is in range 8 - 20°. Height of beads consists of 0.04 -0.1 of their outer diameter; width of beads and their pitch consist respectively of 0.1 - 0.2 and 0.20 - 0.50 of their outer diameter.
EFFECT: enhanced quality and strength of continuously cast slabs due to desired heat sink providing dense macrostructure of slab and reduced number of surface flaws.
